How do we see our city? What aspects of life in the city affect our
emotions? We live in relationship with our city, and we become attached
to moments, memories and places.
This exhibition features an exchange of photos between Montreal, Tokyo,
Hiroshima, and other cities in Japan. Photographic postcards sent from
Tokyo to Montreal are exhibited along photo postcards received from

Assorted closing notes and communication from Tokyo & Montreal
Laurel (Tokyo Exhibition)
A great big thank you to everyone who came out to Design Festa Gallery in Harajuku for the Tokyo exhibition organized by Yuko Tsuchiya & I! For those who would like a taste of Japan and intercultural exchange in Montreal, why not visit the sister exhibition of Montreal to Tokyo -- Tokyo to Montreal, organized by Her Mind's Eye

We still have lots of pictures and responses to upload, but are way behind in posting the updated info!

What we did is we had blank post-cards and asked people to take a photo on their phone and then write a message on the back of the post-card to create 'virtual' post-cards. Yuko also tried to collect recordings of some of the visitor's responses to the post-cards.
People who came created the virtual post-cards by founding a picture on their cellphone, writing a "message" on the back of a paper post card, and we took a picture of their cellphone picture for the postcard front, followed by their written "postcard back" to create a virtual post-card! If they wanted to send a better quality one by email later they could, but this way everything was kept in order.

Sarah (Montreal Exhibition)
I forgot to mention to our IHME photography group that our first visitors to the exhibit were when one wall was installed -- a student here with his parents visiting from Tokyo! Very sweet.
I love the gentle English translations! Very much like a conversation using a second language learned, the meaning is there, by a different route. Many thanks to Yuko for them, and Laurel for all her hard work on the Tokyo end for helping arrange the photowalk, printing and mailing of Tokyo cards, and arranging the Tokyo end of our twinned exhibits. Thanks to our Montral-based Her Mind's Eye gang who were all supportive and a lot of fun, as always.
